Drink...
Both of our bars have open fires and act like magnets in the winter months, with local residents and tourists huddled around the fire. The 10-foot inglenook fireplace in the main bar is yet another impressive feature of this elegant establishment, with the back bar being a little more intimate. Painted in a warm and welcoming ochre, The Swan is an ideal place to sample a glass of wine or ale from the extensive cellar.
The Swan has always had a reputation for offering a good range of beverages and a fully-stocked cellar. This has been reflected with The Swan being listing in CAMRA's 'Good Beer Guide', and a 'Cask Marque' for 'excellence in the service of cask ale'. Adnams Bitter, Broadside, Woodfordes Wherry and various guest beers are all available on hand pump. (continued below)

Outside, the large gardens run down to the river Dove with a vast willow tree dominating the lawns. Again there are signs of Hoxne's past with unique local brickwork surrounding the side garden.
There's plenty of seating, with food served outside during the summer months, so you can take full advantage of the British sunshine! Amid the charming surroundings of The Swan, guests can enjoy an ever-changing menu of expertly prepared home cooked dishes complemented by an impressive range of cask ales from all areas of the country together with an extensive wine list.
David and Jo-Ann also value the importance of sourcing drinks locally as well as food, and currently stock Aspall Cider from Debenham, Adnams Bitter from Southwold, and the guest beer is also normally sourced locally. Previous beers have included ales from the brewery at Earl Soham and Mauldons Brewery in Sudbury.
Beer Festivals...
The Swan holds two annual beer festivals; usually one during May and one during November to commemorate Saint Edmund's Day.
The November festival takes place within the pub while the May festival traditionally takes place in the outbuildings and garden. There are usually upwards of twenty beers on offer, selected from a particular region of the UK.
Past festivals have included Suffolk, the West Country, and the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The beers on offer range from light ales to dark porters – something for every palette!
During the festival, there is usually a full weekend line up of local live music to enjoy.

Dog Friendly

We are always happy to welcome dogs at The Swan Inn, in both our bar areas and the gardens.
Of course, we do have a few rules, to ensure the comfort and safety of others. Please keep dogs on a lead. And if you have been walking, please try and clean your dog down as best as possible.
(All common sense really!)
Whilst at the pub you may also meet our resident pooch. His name is Josh and he is a very friendly Old English Sheepdog. He loves cuddles!
